This appears to be a crash at startup in ChimeraX 1.2.5 on Linux when showing file history thumbnails. We have seen in reported several times and appears to be a Qt bug. I put a possible fix for this in on May 28, 2021 after the 1.2.5 release which is in the daily build. That fix does not work 100% of the time, and may not help at all, we have had one report of the crash in the last month and a half in ChimeraX daily builds with the fix. If that fix does not work the best hope is that a new version of the Qt window toolkit fixes the issue. The next update of Qt is a major change from version 5.15 to 6.2 and we probably cannotmake that update for several months.

This crash in rapid_access_shown has been reported about 20 times, almost all in Qt 5.15, all on Linux and Windows, never macOS. One apparent instance from 4 years ago in an older Qt was #643 suggests the root cause was failure of Qt to get an OpenGL context. This looks like a bug introduced in Qt 5.15. I didn't find anything in Qt bug reports about setting QStackedWidget leading to a crash. Many reports are related to QtWebEngine causing crashes and the file thumbnails use that.

This crash always occurs at startup, never after startup. So it is plausible that the underlying cause is failure of Qt to get an OpenGL context. That failure may be related to some race condition where the context is requested before the window system is ready.
