I've implemented TSV support instead, because a lot of the values that come out of a BLAST database have commas in them already so another separator needed to be chosen. Starting in tomorrow's daily build, you'll see a new button on the Blast Protein results dialog that says "Save Results as TSV". If you click on it, it'll bring up a dialog where you can set the filename and pick a folder to save your file in. TSV is easy to import into Excel for further processing.

Hi Lynne, I saw your message to chimerax-users had bounced, but the answer to your question is that currently there is no Excel exporter for the Blastprotein tool, but there certainly could be. I've opened this ticket for you to keep you in the loop on the effort.
