Description
The following bug report has been submitted:
Platform: Linux-3.10.0-1127.19.1.el7.x86_64-x86_64-with-centos-7.8.2003-Core
ChimeraX Version: 1.1 (2020-09-09 22:22:27 UTC)
Description
Hidden surfaces are still written to file when saving in X3D (and possibly other 3D scene formats - I haven't checked).

| Summary: | ChimeraX bug report submission → X3D export writes hidden surfaces |

The current code only omits the masked triangles. But it outputs all of the vertices and normals for the whole surface, regardless if they are used or not. The weird thing I'm seeing is that the surface appears twice in the output. So something in the scenegraph is saving it twice.
Note:
See TracTickets
for help on using tickets.
Greg wrote the X3D export code. Tested GLTF scene export and it does not include hidden surfaces. The X3D export code needs to use the masked triangles -- hiding the surface with the ~surface command hides patches of the surface associated with all atoms using the triangle mask. The surface model itself is still shown, but all triangles are masked (ie hidden).
