Description
I.e. allow searching with sequence input as text, not just sequences of structures that are already open. Chimera had this option.
Use case is when the sequence of interest does not have a structure and you want to find related structures. Also often used together with Blast results "show as sequence alignment" feature (ticket #1857) which can then be used as input to Modeller comparative modeling.

I'm interpreting this one as another case of "launch blast from sequence viewer". Ticket #3014 is for directly pasting sequence information to blast.
Note:
See TracTickets
for help on using tickets.
blastproteincommand line now accepts an alignment/sequence spec in addition to an atomspec. GUI to invoke the command needs to be added to sequence/alignment viewer.
