Description
I'd successfully made windowsize 256 x 256 but after I opened a volume it would not become square even at larger dimensions (say 400 x 400 or even 800 x 800) and then when I just used "windowsize" to report the dimensions, it claimed the window was square with the dimensions I'd requested... although it clearly wasn't.
At first I thought it was due to showing Volume Viewer, but when I closed that tool the problem persisted. Image and session attached. Reassign/reclassify as appropriate.

I'm perplexed. The screenshot you attached shows a square window size that appears to be 400 x 400. And when I try your example it works for me producing 400 x 400 or 256 x 256 with or without volumes.
Could you show me a screen snapshot where it is not square? Does it come out too tall? That might happen if the tools in the tool pane cannot be made shorter.

Wow, that REALLY doesn’t look square to me! My bad … must be optical illusion from groel surf shape. Sorry for being an idiot.

It became compliant again (I could make it square using the command) after (a) closing Volume Viewer and (b) manual resizing. However, even if I save another session again, when I restore the session it is not square and cannot be made square with the command (and Volume Viewer is again shown). So it does seem to be related to that GUI.
