The error from using "volume onesmask #3" is because you need to specify a surface and #3 is instead a volume shown as orthoplanes. Maybe you mistakenly used #3 in the command when you meant #5 which was a sphere surface.

At any rate, ChimeraX should give a clearer error message and I will fix that.

Fixed.

Made the volume onesmask give a clear error message if no surfaces were specified.
