Description
When trying to color the background using the options "From Editor"/"RGB Sliders", the color is not applied and I get the error message "No target buttons for the coloring action are checked", even though the Coloring applies to "Background" is checked. Submitting feedback not working. | Summary: | Bug report: background coloring with RGB sliders not working → Setting background color with RGB sliders not working |
Sorry that the ChimeraX bug reporter failed -- thanks for attaching a screenshot with the bug reporter info. That failure was probably because our web server which receives the reports was momentarily down -- unfortunately it is frequently down for 30 seconds or a few minutes. In the future you might try pressing Submit again after a minute.
I also find that when I use menu Actions / Color / All Options..., click the Background checkbutton, then From Editor, then choose any color with the Mac color chooser panel, ChimeraX gives the error message "No target buttons for the coloring action are checked". I see this in ChimeraX 1.7.1 and the daily build. This is a bug. The developer who implemented this will look at it next week.
For now you can set the background color with the typed command
set bgcolor #ff61ff
Here I copied the FF61FF from the Mac color chooser dialog "Hex Color" field.

Well, "fixed", but because of some systems at UCSF being down the fix won't make it into a build until Tuesday.
