Description
Would like to reset all our Quest headsets to use a single Meta account (email chimerax-meta@…). This will simplify developing for the headsets and avoid logging in on a computer to the wrong Meta account which then mysteriously does not connect to a headset belonging a different account. Changing to one account will require factory reseting each headset. But we only have LookSee and SteamLink installed on them so this is not too much work.
There are a few other drawbacks to using a single account. The most noted one in online discussions is that many Meta Quest store apps will not run on two headsets with the same account. Starting the app on one headset will block it starting on another headset. This is described here

Another thing that probably won't work is having two headsets use AirLink (wifi connection to PC) on the same wifi network if only one account is used. I believe I tried this in the past but it should be tested again. This could be a serious issue since we may want two person VR meetings over wifi. I think it is like SteamLink will work for that use and will not use the Meta account. That also needs to be tested.
Currently the lab has 4 Quest headsets (2, Pro, and two 3s). These used to be owned by one Meta account with email chimera-meta@…. Then in Fall 2023 we found we could not screen cast two Quest headsets to two different computers on the same wifi if they belonged to one account. We needed 3 screen-casts on the same wifi for a Saturday Night Science VR demo so we created separate accounts for each headset.
Currently the Quest 2 has Meta account chimerax-meta2@…, the Quest Pro has chimerax-meta@…, the two Quest 3 use chimerax-meta3@… and chimerax-meta4@….
