• Make Chimera end-of-life bug report and registration changes for 1.18 release in Spring 2024.
• Back up the Chimera build machine to a solid state drive, Windows 7.
• ChimeraX Ideas milestone clean-up.

Discussion

• ChimeraX 1.8 release
  • Will release Monday June 10, 2024 if no one objects at that developer meeting.
  • Looked at ticket about add charge make install failing due to user installed bundles. Still needs work.
  • Toolshed dependencies for multiple architectures ticket, Greg says is a server-side issue that does not hold up 1.8 release.

• ChimeraX web service monitoring
  • On rare occasion ChimeraX web services all broken because all workers have died and need to be restarted with pcs restart.
  • Eric suggests a periodic job to check every 5 minutes and send email if they all die.
  • Zach suggests instead that every job submitted checks if the workers have died and restarts them and sends a warning email to maintainer. Would require a way for apache user to run pcs restart.

• Wynton disaster recovery backups
  • Eric asks how backups caused wynton hiccups.
  • Greg says Scooter trying to backup home directories, excludes ones with too many files, uses NFS mount and rclone to copy to JBOD in N108. Somehow NFS not playing nice with Beegfs.

• Wynton virus scans
  • Greg says virus scan plan on Wynton involves noting new files as they are created and having another server scan them when it can.

• Plato backups
  • Eric says new plato backup computer arriving in early July.
  • We won't have plato backups until mid-July when new machine is set up.

• ChimeraX dark mode
  • Greg tried enabling dark mode in Qt in ChimeraX on Windows.
  • HTML panels did not respond to change from light to dark modes.
  • Other issues such as icons (black lines on transparent background), histograms, matplot lib plots would need to be addressed.
  • Tried switching Windows system dark mode, ChimeraX 1.7 did not change when already started nor when restarted.

  • Greg suggests putting note at top that it is no longer updated.
  • Can also add links to ChimeraX VR near top.
