Discussion

  • ChimeraX splash screen to be removed, decided in group meeting.
  • Greg described slow mmCIF writing issues
    • especially slow for writing just selected atoms
    • has optimized some of mmCIF writing in past week using Cython
    • will optimize one more part for 10% speedup
  • Color key in and tested some by Eric and Elaine
  • Looked at R01 progress report items Tom Ferrin asked to prioritize for ChimeraX 1.2 release
    • all too big to implement in a month
    • adding ions unlikely ever to be implemented, needs ancient AmberTools
  • PyQt 5.15.3 and 5.15.4
    • Do these include Qt 5.15.3 which requires commercial Qt license?
    • Greg tested with PyPi PyQt 5.15.4 install and it includes Qt 5.15.2.
    • Won't update PyQt for ChimeraX 1.2 release
  • Release plan is to have all ChimeraX 1.2 code changes in by next meeting in two weeks
    • Version 1.2 will be called a release candidate initially and promoted to official release if stable for some weeks
    • If fixes to 1.2 release candidate needed, will put out 1.2.1
