• Commercial ChimeraX license
  • Elaine asks about company requesting free academic license for academic collaborations.
  • Scooter and Tom Ferrin will advise on how to respond.

• IT Governance meeting
  • Tom Ferrin says IT Governance discussed making 5-year plan to cover all UCSF compute needs for research, teaching, admin.
  • They want a common identity management system for researchers, faculty, students and affiliates.

• Computer security audit
  • Scooter will attend meeting on ProofPoint email filtering on Friday.
  • Network Access Control (NAC) - Scooter requested Rocky 9 installer.
  • NAC vendor solution seems only designed for desktops, not servers.

• Chimera web service shutdown
  • Need to announce to users that Chimera web services shutting down.
  • Shutdown will probably be end of this month when plato updated to Rocky 8.
  • New Chimera release will use new ChimeraX web services.
  • Almost ready to make new Chimera release, Eric testing Chimera -> ChimeraX session converter.
  • Plan is to make Chimera release in the next few weeks, then announce.

• Wynton operating system update
  • Rocky 8 update on Wynton hitting some snags.
  • Looks like BeeGFS won't be updated.
  • Plan is to update Plato to Rocky 8 before Wynton, hopefully take just one day, first week of May.
  • Wynton down time third week of May, maximum of 5 days down.
  • Wynton will be down in Fall for power upgrades.

• New VR system
  • New Dell VR system ready to set up in vizvault.

• Reimbursements
  • Tom Ferrin renewed PyQt license.
  • Reimbursement denied based on some technicalities.
  • Reimbursements require more documentation now than in the past.

• NIAID new contract status
  • Contract did not start in March because of UCSF finance wrong budget numbers.
  • Contract now in GuidePoint hands, have not heard from them in 2 weeks.
  • Contract will not retroactively start on March 1, so will likely be shorter than 12 months.

• Elaine journal club

  • ​AlphaFold predictions: great hypotheses but no match for experiment
