- Need to print labels with better text quality.
- Scooter will work on printing labels on alanine or trp.
- Paste labels on cards this afternoon.
- Backups
- Tape robotics drive is broken. Eric tried dozens of resets with no luck.
- No restores from backs possible without tape drive.
- Tom Ferrin says there is another tape drive from Jacobson lab but it needs some parts swapped out that he could work on after holidays.
- Scooter says cloud backups to Microsoft Azure are $8-9 per TB per year. Should investigate.
- Eric would have to revise backup scripts to use cloud backup. Might be a small change to send tar files to cloud.
- Greg pointed out that UCSF outgoing bandwidth is low (~10 Gbits) that could impair cloud backups.
- Scooter says Mission Bay looking at getting 100 Gbit internet connection.
- Tom Ferrin notes many labs are pressuring UCSF IT to allow cloud backups, and they have agreed that it is permissible.
- ChimeraX Mac notarization failing
- Mac notarization failed the last two days.
- This prevented releasing ChimeraX 1.7 yesterday.
- Investigation shows codesign certificate expired December 12.
- Eric talking to David Ng to get new certificate.
- Eric's work-in-progress presentation postponed until next week's group meeting.
