• Computer security
  • Discussion between Greg and Scooter about email security improvements, quarantine message handling.
  • Scooter requested no further audit meetings, write up further problems as not remediated.
  • Auditors will write up findings, then a remediation phase.
  • Who will pay for remediation is an open question.
  • IS3 security program from top of UC. Says it should not interfere with research and balance risk and policy.
  • Password 1 year expiration on plato and wynton starting, all accounts will have expiration enabled.

• AlphaFold tools
  • Prediction tool with Google Colab still in experiment phase.
  • TomG working to have alphafold gui for search, match, predict for Sept workshop.
  • Google Colab prediction requires logging into Google so user will be told it is using Colab.

• SLAC cryoEM workshop
  • 300 participants signed up.
  • 1 hour zoom presentation on Use of AlphaFold in ChimeraX for cryoEM Modeling

• Chimera 1.3 release date
  • Start release candidate process mid-september after cryoEM workshop.
  • Actual release candidate probably out by Oct 1.
  • Final release by end of October

• Grant personnel assignments
  • Tom Ferrin will ask Tara Wong about current percent efforts of staff

• DOE cryoEM AI grant
  • No news, supposed to hear in August if it is funded

• Wynton backups
  • Scooter involved in looking into backup solutions for research data on Wynton
