Description
I'm not sure this is a bug but the tethers may be excessive for nucleic acids when "cartoon suppress false" is used. Example image attached.

Which structure is this? Probably an RNA? I looked at 1bna and, even though there were additional tethers, it didn't look bad because none of them were very long. Clearly the tethers will work better with proteins, which only have three minimal backbone atoms (N, CA, C). We can also turn off tethers completely if the backbone atoms are not suppressed.

Yes, RNA … I think it was 2tpk residue 1. I was just surprised that there were so many tethers per residue for nucleotides compared to amino acids and it took me a while to figure out which atoms were designated for this. Apparently the rule is all the atoms of the minimal backbone, thus excluding only O of amino atoms and the two phosphate O not bonded to C. My initial thought was maybe a smaller set should be chosen for nucleotides, but since it’s possible to make tethers 100 transparent, I don’t care that much. Either of the following is OK with me: (1) remove O3’ and O5’ from the set of atoms per nucleotide for which tethers are shown, or (2) change this ticket to wontfix.

wontfix is OK with me assuming tether-opacity bug #4538 is fixed
Note:
See TracTickets
for help on using tickets.
I guess one could use "car tethers opacity 0" to hide them if desired.
