Hey Eric,

No problem! I believe I was just trying to launch ChimeraX over an ssh
session (using Mobaxterm on Windows). X11 forwarding works using this for
most applications, but I couldn't get it to work for ChimeraX. I ended up
just launching it from my local machine.

I could totally have wrong display-related environment variables set - I
didn't make any further attempts after it crashed over SSH, just went into
the office and worked locally, then when I saw the bug report dialogue I
figured "why not?".

Let me know if you would like any more details, and thank you again for all
of your work on this software! I'm an aspiring molecular simulation
developer and find it very cool to see so much of this written in Python!

FYI, officially we don't support ChimeraX over ssh. There are too many possible problems. That said, I've successfully used the cygwin X server on Windows and then used ssh to remotely display ChimeraX. So this could be a Mobaxterm bug, or it could be a bug in the GLX (X11 OpenGL extension) on the remote system.

Thanks for the info and I'm glad you're otherwise enjoying ChimeraX. Running ChimeraX with X11 forwarding rarely works unfortunately, though (as I understand it) there is some chance of it working if both machines have the same type of graphics card and driver.

Thanks for the insight about ChimeraX and X11 forwarding. I'll definitely
give cygwin a try, but no big deal if I need to just run locally. Thanks
