Slider no longer working smoothly

Description
Something has changed in the daily builds that breaks ISOLDE's temperature control slider (I suspect an update to a new PyQt version?). As best I can describe it:
- the slider is associated with a `QDoubleSpinBox` to display the current value, with callbacks in place to keep both the spinbox and slider in sync with the value stored in ISOLDE's SimParamMgr object. That all worked fast and smoothly since 1.4 up to a few weeks ago, but now it looks like when I drag the slider the resulting callbacks are delayed and out of order - the spinbox takes a substantial fraction of a second to update; the slider "fights back" (jumps back to previous values); if I drag the slider rapidly up and down for a few seconds ChimeraX crashes entirely (with no output, even if I run ChimeraX-console.exe from the command line). Makes it pretty much unusable. Thought it might have something to do with me recently giving in and updating to Windows 11, but I still have ChimeraX 1.5 installed and that behaves itself just fine.

Hi Tristan,

Is this slider entirely from scratch, or does it inherit from ui.widgets.Slider? That class _was_ changed recently.

It's a direct subclass of QSlider. Other sliders seem to be working OK,
though... weird. Following up on a hunch...

Ugh. My bad. Had just added a new GUI widget to adjust the controlling parameters for soft-core nonbonded potentials... accidentally had it doing something expensive (replotting the shape of the potentials) every time *any* simulation parameter changed. Head still in holiday mode, I guess.
