Description (last modified by )
Good evening,
I recently started to use ChimeraX for my protein visualizing research project and when I tried to predict a protein structure based on my own sequence, I accidently logged into Google Colab with my school email which is restricted for Colab so I can’t use it. When I try to sign out of my school account I am redirected by ChimeraX to an error page. I have not been able to sign in with my different email, and therefore cannot utilize the prediction tool of chimera, which is key to my research, and I was hoping if you could help me to sign out and sign back in with the correct email address. The email I used to sign in to Colab that is restricted is benyamin.zilber69@… and the email I would actually like to use is b385057@….
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Benyamin Zilber

I just tried the AlphaFold tool in ChimeraX and ran a prediction and when the warning about the code not coming from Google appears with "Run Anyway" and "Cancel" buttons I pressed Cancel. Then I clicked on my face icon in the upper right corner of the Google Colab AlphaFold window in ChimeraX and clicked "Sign out". I gather from you got this far and then it went to some kind of error page. For me it correctly signs out and lets me sign in to a different account.
So it all works for me with ChimeraX 1.4 tested on a Mac (macOS 12.6).
I recall the ChimeraX web browser panes sometimes giving "Not found" errors in older ChimeraX. Are you using the ChimeraX 1.4 version?
If none of this works, there is a file which keeps your Google sign-in for ChimeraX active. On Mac it is in
~/Library/Caches/UCSF ChimeraX/QtWebEngine/AlphaFold
Deleting that directory should make it forget your Google sign-in.

Thank you for your help. You were partially right, I did need to delete the local cache file, but turns out I also had Chimera saved in my roaming, so I had to delete it in both of those places for it to finally forget me. Again, thank you for your help.

On Windows the QtWebEngine Google Colab authentication info is in
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\ChimeraX\QtWebEngine\AlphaFold
