Description
The following bug report has been submitted:
Platform: Windows-10-10.0.19041
ChimeraX Version: 1.4 (2022-06-03 23:39:42 UTC)
Description
Making a mistake in the curly brackets (e.g. using a non-existent property, or accidentally putting a space inside the bracket as in this example) displays nothing, without throwing an error. Any further attempt to relabel the same objects also leads to nothing being displayed, unless a ~label command encompassing them is done first.

Well, this is just kind of how things work. You are allowed to specify attributes that don't exist in all the objects being labeled. Where they are missing, those objects won't be labeled. Until you "~label", "text something-else" or "text default" the string you provided previously is considered to be the text for that object's label.

Upon further reflection, it would be better to treat objects lacking the attribute as having no label assigned, rather than the problematic label.

The badly labeled residues will continue to show no labels and throw no errors, but subsequent attempts to label them will not be suppressed.
Though reissuing a corrected curly-braces label command works without an intervening ~label.
