    2 This is almost surely a graphics driver from an unstable graphics driver.  Unfortunately the newest graphics driver is not always the most stable.  AMD and Nvidia sometimes introduce new bugs.  It is sometimes necessary to install an older driver if the problem is severe enough that it is worth your trouble.  ChimeraX sees your graphics as "AMD Radeon R9 200 Series" various cards released in 2013 and 2014.  This graphics is quite old and it is not too surprising when AMD and Nvidia introduce bugs for such old cards that they likely no longer test against.
