This is an X11 window system problem. Are you remote displaying ChimeraX? X11 remote display with OpenGL 3D graphics applications like ChimeraX often fails because the local and remote machines have different OpenGL drivers. If you are using remote display, does ChimeraX run correctly without remote display? Does ChimeraX crash every time on startup or just this one time?
