Description
Last time you used ChimeraX it crashed.
Please describe steps that led to the crash here. I opened a map with a file size of 512Mb. Interestingly, Chimera can open it without any issues.

The crash report says

xcb_shm_create_segment() failed for size 5511320

I am not sure if this is the cause of the crash but it seems likely. This error is from the X11 window system XCB library failing in a small (5 Mbyte) shared memory allocation. ChimeraX does not directly use the X11 window system, it instead uses the Qt window toolkit. This may be a bug in Qt. Here is a similar error reported as a Qt bug

But that Qt bug report says the application does not crash, and this message is just a warning.

Chimera and ChimeraX are completely different programs so it is not surprising that they do not behave the same.

You might want to update ChimeraX to 1.3 or to the current daily build. The daily build is using a new version of Qt, Qt 6 instead of Qt 5.

The warnings indicate failures on very small memory allocations, as small as 17 Kbytes

But the memory use in the crash report does not suggest the computer was low on memory.

I don't think this error has anything to do with the size of this map (512 Mbytes is not large).
