Although my system has not changed at all, ChimeraX crashes immediately after startup.

These are OpenGL errors most likely caused by bugs in your graphics driver. Are you sure Windows did not automatically update your graphics driver?

Yes, I am sure that the machine was untouched.
Interestingly, after a few crashes ChimeraX worked even with v1.2.5 - I 
have now updated to ChimeraX 1.3, however.

Glad it is working now. If the graphics driver did not change and the display did not change, and yet ChimeraX went from not working to working at startup, I don't have any explanation.
