This is probably a bug in your graphics driver. Your specific Mac laptop model MacBookPro16,2 is known to have a graphics driver bugs that effect silhouette edges. It has been reported 4 previous times for ChimeraX, for example, https://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/trac/ChimeraX/ticket/4768. There is nothing we can do to fix the system graphics driver, only Apple could fix that. To make a figure you could save a ChimeraX session (.cxs file) and copy it to another computer and make the image there.

When I try opening 1jey, white background, silhouettes, save image with transparent background and width and height 600 the resulting image is fine on an old 2012 MacBook Pro.

Dear Tom,

Thanks for the quick feedback! I saw several old reports describing similar
issues so was hopeful that this is something Chimerax can fix. I will use
an older desktop then.
