Description
Now we can have multiple molecular surfaces (SES) for the same or overlapping sets of atoms. However, I can’t think of any way to *partially* show/hide such surfaces independently. For example if you had a surface on each chain of a dimer and another surface around the whole dimer, you can’t hide the alanine surfaces in the whole-dimer surface only… you can only hide all alanine surface patches (surface hide :ala), or hide the entire whole-dimer surface (hide surf-model-number).
It doesn’t work to first use “surf hide :ala” and then show the entire other surfaces (like Chimera1 modeldisplay), because nothing changes: the per-atom patch display bits remain the same, and you can’t get any whole surface back without using “surf show :ala” or “show :ala targ s” which affects them all.
