I'll need your help debugging this. ChimeraX works for me in Windows 10 Home, build 19041. You have Window 10 Pro, build 18362. So your version of Windows 10 is older :-).

First, please try ChimeraX 1.0. It uses older versions of the Microsoft runtime libraries. You can find it by going to the ChimeraX download page and click on Older Releases: https://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/older_releases.html. And let me know if that works.

Next switch back to the daily build and try running ChimeraX from the command line. Use PowerShell or CommandPrompt (cmd) to run:

'C:\Program Files\ChimeraX 1.2.dev202102011954\bin\ChimeraX-console.exe'

The number following 1.2.dev will change depending on which daily build you have. And then reproduce the error and send me whatever shows up in the shell window.

Hi Greg, I'm sorry for the delay after your quick response. I have 
reinstalled all available Win10 updates and neither ChimeraX 1.0 nor 
ChimeraX Daily build will run (I completely uninstalled all.exe, 
re-installed 1.0 and then installed the Daily build without uninstalling 
1.0...).

I navigated to C:\Program Files\ChimeraX 1.2.dev202102030836\bin>  And 
ran C:\Program Files\ChimeraX 1.2.dev202102030836\bin>start 
ChimeraX-console.exe The initial photo of the ChimeraX group at UCSF 
opens and then nothing more happens. The Win10 command shell (very) 
briefly flashes up a message; something like: "Requested OpenGL 
implementation is not supported. Implementation: 1" and returns to the 
prompt.

I have restored Win10 to a previous version several times now and each 
time any version of ChimeraX runs. Best wishes, John

Sounds like you need to install a graphics driver. Please run the dxdiag application, click on Save Information, and send me that file. That will tell me how your system is configured and then I'll be able to give more specific advice.

Thanks for the info. It looks like it should work. Your graphics drivers look out of date, the Intel one more so than the Radeon one. Can you disable the Intel HD graphics in the BIOS, so it only sees and uses the AMD Radeon graphics? That would eliminate one possible issue. Intel driver can be found at ​https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ and AMD drivers are at ​https://www.amd.com/en/support.

Another thing to help me figure things out. Please download ​https://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/home/gregc/wglinfo.exe. And then run wglinfo.exe inside a PowerShell or Command Prompt window. And then copy & paste to send me the output. wglinfo shows the OpenGL capabilities of your system.

to an earlier Win10 version and ChimeraX (and ISOLDE) are, once again,

Thought of another thing to check. After ChimeraX fails, go the Windows "Event Viewer" and see if you can find a related event. And, if you're game, we could have a "zoom" meeting and work on this together.
