Description
Took 30 seconds to start ChimeraX after double clicking icon.  Splash screen came up within a second and said "Starting main interface" the whole time.  I clicked to another app after 15 seconds, that made the splash screen disappear.  When I clicked the ChimeraX dock icon I then saw the "Allow ChimeraX to access the Desktop" dialog.  Clicked yes and it started.

I believe every time I have seen this it always asked me if I want to allow access to the Desktop (on Mac). Does that dialog appear when the splash screen is shown? Maybe it gets hidden under the splash screen and then appears hung.

I guess another question is what would be trying to access the Desktop as the main interface starts? Rapid Access?

Also, ChimeraX changes directory to the Desktop during startup, right? Kind of a mystery why this hangup would only occur occasionally.

Same 30 second startup time when I tried at today’s group meeting.  I started by clicking Dock ChimeraX icon.  Splash screen came up right away, and got to Starting Main Interface fast then hung.  This time I did not touch any windows, just waited, and about 30-40 seconds later the splash screen disappeared and the “Allow Desktop access?” dialog was centered at the old splash screen location. Clicked ok and it started normally.

I think this slow startup is somehow related to the "Allow access to Desktop" dialog since every time it is slow it shows that dialog.  I have not grasped why it regularly asks me to allow access -- it has something to do I think with running different versions of ChimeraX, or maybe running from a shell and then from an icon.  macOS seems to forget that I already allowed access.  Would be nice to figure that one out.  Maybe macOS wants to reask you for every new version of a program you run and is not able to remember the setting for more than one version.

Saw this again today.  30 second startup.  Did not touch anything and eventually "Allow access Desktop?" dialog appeared and splash screen disappeared.  Splash screen had been showing "Starting main interface" the whole time.  After I clicked yes, the splash screen reappeared for an instant then was replaced by the ChimeraX main window.
