Description

If a tool needs additional info in order to open/display data, it may need to add arbitrary keywords to the open command. The initial thinking is to add support for basic keyword value types (int, float, bool, string) to the metadata, which could be expanded later. If a tool needs "fancy" value parsing, it would have to register the value as string and parse it itself.
