Description
The following bug report has been submitted: Platform: Windows-10-10.0.17763 ChimeraX Version: 0.92 (2020-02-27) Description conference appears to start on cxconference.rbvi.ucsf.edu initiated from this machine (vive.cgl.ucsf.edu) but joining from another machine (vizvault.cgl.ucsf.edu) does not receive a session, appears to do nothing and gives no error. I will report a bug on that joining machine too. No VR was in use in this test, although got the same behavior with VR. I used the command (and got the reply immediately below) on one Chimera instance:
conference start cxconference.rbvi.ucsf.edu/test In conference cxconference.cgl.ucsf.edu:443/test as "conrad" "conrad_2" [67.180.74.255:11526] joined conference copying scene to "conrad_2"
On another instance, I got:
conference join cxconference.rbvi.ucsf.edu/test In conference cxconference.cgl.ucsf.edu:443/test as "conrad_2"
And the session was sent. If you're seeing no reply on the joining machine, it probably means it is not reaching the hub. Can you verify that vizvault is on the net? What happens if you start on vizvault and join from vive?

Yep, I made sure vizvault was on the net. I tested the meeting command before and after the conference command and it worked, so it was certainly on the net. But it does seem that vizvault did not connect -- there was no "... joined" message logged on vive.cgl.ucsf.edu <http://vive.cgl.ucsf.edu/>. But I expected if the connection failed then I would get a time out and error message. I'll try starting on vizvault and joining on vive.

I tried starting conference on vizvault and joining on vive. Exact same behavior. No errors, no session transferred, no message saying any participant has joined.

Use the meeting command. Conference didn't work and Conrad retired so it has been abandoned.
Note:
See TracTickets
for help on using tickets.
Meeting command worked correctly with and without VR.
