Description
Make icon that saves image use a different image file name each time it is used. Could append a time stamp or if that is too long just increment a suffix number: image1, image2, image3....

I am guessing (hoping?) you are planning to overhaul the file browser in chimeraX, so I won't make any specific comments on that.
One thing that would be a great help day to day would be the capacity to quickly save an image (maybe with a hotkey) to a predefined scratch directory (user-settable) with a name derived from the session and the date/time, using the default settings for resolution, stereo etc (or bring up a dialog with only these settings adjustable rather than the file browser).
This has two advantages - one, much faster. Navigating in the file browser and choosing names is slow and requires thought. Second, when I am making many different versions of the same image, it would reduce the tendency to accumulate them all in a project directory, and allow me to pick the several I like for transfer at the end of a session.
Cheers,
Oli
