Description

Hello,

my name is Guillaume, I am a IT technician in the company IGBMC. I contact you because we have a problem with your software ChimeraX (daily version and 0.9), it does not start on some of our computers (Windows 10), we installed visual C ++ 2015 (32 bits or 64 bits), C ++ 2017 , etc ... But nothing changes the software will not start. We hope you can help us.

Best regards,

This might be difficult to debug remotely.

First thought:

Bring up the Windows Event Viewer (type Event in the search bar to find it). And show the Windows Logs / Application log. Then start up ChimeraX and see if anything appears. Poke around at the other Windows logs to see if there is anything. Please let us know what you find, even if it is nothing.

Second thought:

We build ChimeraX in the cygwin.com environment. It should not be needed at runtime. Try downloading and installing the 64-bit version of cygwin, then startup a Cygwin64 Terminal, and run ChimeraX as a command in that shell. There might be a message there. To do that, display the Properties of the ChimeraX icon, then click on Open File Location, then drag and drop the ChimeraX executable in to the Cygwin Terminal.
