Description
At least on my Mac, ChimeraX quick start links don't work. Even if I have a ChimeraX started, if I browse to
http://preview.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/quickstart/index.html
and click the first command link, "open 2bbv", it does not work in Firefox, Safari, or Chrome.
… gives “The address wasn’t understood” in Firefox and “Safari can’t open the specified address” in Safari. The latter let me try to choose an application but when I chose ChimeraX it still didn’t do anything. Chrome didn’t do anything at all.
I think Scooter encountered this in our planning meeting Dec 5 2015 but I didn't remember to re-check until Dec 14.
Those links only work within ChimeraX, not in a general web browser. Bring up quickstart with the help menu, or with "help quickstart".
This is different from Chimera and greatly simplifies directing ChimeraX via an HTML page. If there is demand, we could add support for .cxhelp (or .cxh) files that would start ChimeraX and show the file in ChimeraX help browser, and then quickstart and the users guide would use that suffix instead of .html.
