Probably an X11 remote display problem. It is drawing the status line on an expose event. It already got past the code that calls glClear() but then fails drawing the status line text. It is somewhat surprising that it would lose the OpenGL context after the glClear. So it could instead be a Qt error where Qt changed the context and then set it to no context. We've seen similar behavior on Mac where Qt dispatches some events at unexpected locations in QOpenGLContext.makeCurrent().
