Description

The following bug report has been submitted:
Platform: Windows-10-10.0.17134
ChimeraX Version: 0.9 (2019-03-25)
Description
I'm not 100% sure this is a bug or unclear documentation.
I am using align to compare structures of a transporter in three different states. Aligning the whole structure is fine, but I would like to compare alignment of helices within the structure. My problem is with the command
align #1/a:some numbers to #2/a:some numbers move nothing
When I do this, nothing appears to move, I get an RMSD. However, if I manually drag #2 away from #1, then type the command again, I get the same value. In the documentation, adding move nothing is described as:
"do not move anything; simply report the current RMSD"
If it's reporting the "current RMSD", should this not be much higher after I've dragged the second structure away?

Regards,
James

Hi James,

Indeed, that documentation was wrong. The documentation was fixed about a month ago to say "do not move anything, but report the RMSD as if the atoms had been fitted". Your version is about two months old. Sorry about that!
