Hi

We have tried to install ChimeraX-1.8.exe onto a Lenovo laptop however when we open the application.

The error we are encountering with ChimeraX on our Lenovo laptop is due to a known bug in Intel graphics driver version6790. This bug causes all Qt-based user interface panels to appear blank, which affects ChimeraX's usability.

Please advise whether you can provide a software patch to resolve this issue.

You need to get an updated graphics driver from Lenovo or Intel. So first, go to Lenovo support and install the newest graphics driver for your laptop. If that doesn't fix things, go to https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ and get a newer driver there. The driver from Intel will not have any Lenovo customizations (have to say that, don't know what they are), but the graphics will be better.

That warning message about your Intel driver was incorrect. The code that checked for a bad Intel driver in ChimeraX incorrectly compared the driver version number to the known broken driver. If ChimeraX is otherwise working (showing molecules) then there is nothing you need to do. If it doesn't work correctly then you need to describe the observed problem.

Also you should use the latest ChimeraX release version 1.10. The fault warning message about Intel drivers does not occur in ChimeraX version 1.10.
