Can you explain more specifically what "Can't load new tools" means? Do you mean menu entry Tools / More Tools... is not working?

I see you tried to show the Log. Does the Log panel appear automatically when you start ChimeraX? It is supposed to. If it is not then show it with your "ui tool show Log" then right click or ctrl-click on the Log and select "Start at ChimeraX Start-up" to make the Log always appear when you start ChimeraX. Or you can use the equivalent command "ui autostart true Log".
