Our general recommendation in mysterious cases, is that you try updating your graphics driver to the latest one from Nvidia.

So update your graphics driver, but it is more likely something else that is causing the problem. The next time ChimeraX hangs, show the Task Manager dialog (right-click on the task bar to bring up a menu, the Task Manager should be the third from the bottom). In the Task Manager dialog, select the ChimeraX application and look at how such CPU, Disk, Network, and GPU activity are associated with it. You can also check how much Memory it is using. That should give you a clue for more investigation.

And please tell us the last thing you did in ChimeraX before it hanged. There may be some correlation with the information from the Task Manager, or not. That is another important clue.
