Description

Dear Help,

ChimeraX-1.9-rc2024.11.06.app will not open on my Mac, it states:

“ChimeraX-1.9-rc2024.11.06.app” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information

I think you can run xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /path/to/ChimeraX.app in a terminal to make that go away. The root cause is that Apple's terms of use for certificates have changed and our organization has not signed off on the changes yet.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for reporting this problem. It has been fixed and tomorrow's build should open on your Mac. You should be able to run the version you have now by right-clicking on it to bring up a context menu and choosing "Open" in that menu (and possibly navigating a resulting confirmation dialog).

Mac notarization failure is supposed to be a build failure so the build does not go on the web. That should be fixed.
