Description

Hi,

I am trying to install Chimera on my computer but I can’t get it to load. I
have tried installing both the 8.1 and the daily versions. I see an initial
white box pop up but then the software just crashes and disappears.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jon

I have a dell Latitude 5490. I was able to get the historic build of 1.7
installed but as soon as I try to go to 1.8 or the daily build it stops
running.

Thanks,
Jon

I think there are 2 possible problems that could cause this failure to startup. 1) Something in your ChimeraX user preferences is causing trouble, or 2) your graphics driver is bad. To test for 1) try moving or removing your ChimeraX preferences so it starts with factory defaults. The preferences are directory

C:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\Local\UCSF\ChimeraX

If moving that directory does not fix startup, then updating your graphics driver is the next thing to try.
