chimeraX silhouette look spotty

Dear ChimeraX support team,

I experienced an issue with ChimeraX silhouette showing dark spots. I’m using ChimeraX version 1.7.1. Please see the picture attached. Could you please help me resolve this?

Unfortunately this is a known problem with one specific old Intel MacBook Pro model. The Apple graphics driver causes this problem. We do not have any solution. There is probably no chance Apple will fix this since they don't make computers with Intel graphics anymore. The bug has been present for several years.

If you need to save an image for a publication you could save a ChimeraX session (*.cxs) file, copy it to another computer with working graphics and save the image on another computer.

Dear ChimeraX support team,

I would like to add that I’m using the latest version of mac 14.4.1 (23E224).
I realized that this could be a graphic issue, may be a ChimeraX bug for the newest version of mac as an older version of mac dose not have this ChimeraX issue.

The silhouette artifacts have been present on every version of macOS on your hardware MacBookPro16,2. It is a defect in Apple's graphics driver for the Intel graphics in this particular model of laptop that has been present since 2020 when this Apple released that laptop. I don't expect Apple will ever fix it.
