Last time you used ChimeraX it crashed.
Please describe steps that led to the crash here.
Just refused to open properly, while yesterday it worked fine. Restarted computer and now it works ok.

It looks like you were trying to run ChimeraX remotely, is that the case? Or maybe someone else had locked the console, and you did a secondary console login? I'm trying to find out why your DISPLAY environment variable is ":1" instead of ":0". Please tell us more.

Hi Greg,

in principle, after the first errora few days ago, we should not have been accessing remotely.
so I was surprised by the second error - but I can't be 100% sure that was no remote chimeraX startup attempt.

we (the two users with access to this account specially set up for alphafold) will make sure not to access chimeraX remotely anymore - hopefully this will then avoid the crashes.

Just want to say that using ChimeraX remotely does work sometimes. I've seen it work when the same version of Linux and graphics driver are used locally and remotely. I've it work running under VirtualGL remotely. And I've see it work using the cygwin X11 server locally on Windows. And I've seen it work inside VMware Workstation virtual machines. There are probably other circumstances where it works, but remote OpenGL hasn't worked reliably since the SGI workstation days.
