Unless there's something deeper going on (who knows... I've never been able to replicate this crash myself), this *should* be fixed. I've moved loading of the force field back to the main thread. The good news is that due to some combination of the march of CPU speed and the more-streamlined main force field, the difference in startup time is practically unnoticeable.

Hmm... I think I'm going to just have to get rid of this approach of loading the force field in a separate thread. In theory it should work fine; in practice it seems to be doing something that's not thread-safe. In honesty I mainly added it at the time when I was pre-loading all the ~15k ligand definitions into the force field making it take a rather long time to instantiate; now I only load those as-needed so loading the core force field is pretty quick.
