Attendees: Eric, Conrad, TomG, Elaine
Action Items
- Scooter will disable the "do not notify modifier" plugin in Trac
Items
- Discuss components/categories in Chimera Trac tickets
- Because Trac tickets are searchable, choice of components/categories are not as critical
- For example, Eric can search for tickets in either "Graphics" or "Core" in an ambiguous case
- There is no incentive to change the component list
- Because Trac tickets are searchable, choice of components/categories are not as critical
- Discuss use of keywords in enhancement requests
- Use of keywords by maintainers of tickets is fine
- Keywords can simplify report generation
- Requiring everyone to use keywords is problematic
- diligence and controlled vocabulary issues will probably make searching more attractive than keywords
- Use of keywords by maintainers of tickets is fine
- Discuss Trac behavior issues
- When searching, do not use camel-cased words because Trac seems to treat them as wiki page lookups instead of searches. Just use all lower-case letters.
- The "do not notifier modifier" plugin works well except for two problem cases:
- When Elaine creates a new ticket via the web, she no longer gets e-mail confirmation
- When Eric accepts a new ticket (rather than assigning it to someone else), he no longer gets e-mail confirmation
- These missing confirmation messages make the plugin in its current form a cure worse than the disease
- A simple modification addresses both problem cases: the plugin does nothing when the ticket owner changes
- Until the change is made, the plugin should be disabled
- Meeting adjourned
