Agenda for the visit.
Phil: are there other PIs there that we should meet?
I (Phil) can give a talk on how ChimeraX VR has been useful for their work. Nitric oxide & hemoglobin paper just published. [https://www.niaid.nih.gov/news-events/new-view-hemoglobin project description] TomF: probably too late to schedule as departmental seminar. Elaine: if we had our own room and 1- or 2-day event, we could schedule talks ourself, right? TomF: yes, that's another possibility. Meghan: a show & tell of different projects that use ChimeraX VR would be nice. TomG: I've wanted to do something similar for a while. Have a lot of VR-interested people come and use it hands-on, optionally on their own data. Would be great if we could get Mike Schmid to come. Phil: we could potentially go visit SLAC. TomG, Elaine: you may need to fill out some special security forms.

TomF: did we nail down specific dates? Meghan: no, but should be second week of Feb at the latest. Maybe week of Feb 3 or Feb 10. Feb 3 would allow for reschedule if weather causes problems. TomF: Should be OK but we should check our calendars. Elaine: is there issues with scheduling a room? TomF: should be OK, usually get Kris Casler to do this or somebody else in the Pharm Chem office. I will send email to Kimberly Cantero.

Who would be coming? Meghan, Phil, Victor, and possibly Dave Chen.

Meghan: have we talked about [https://www.paraview.org/ paraview]? Server-side runs volume visualization of large datasets.

Discussion of licensing issues with alphafold 3.

Lenicapivir is new and exciting HIV drug and program officer Dave McDonald got a ChimeraX session from the grantee and came to the bioviz lab to view it in VR. So another way to stimulate use is to say that it may help get funding for structural biology projects, by communicating interesting findings to granting agencies in an engaging way.

TomF: is it unique to NIAID? Meghan: we are unique in that we have the bioviz lab available to the program officers. Other institutes may not have their own, although ours is available to other institutes. NIAID research has priority but if facilities are available, it's fine for others to make use of them.
