Meghan: sending email asking Scooter and Zach for workshop descriptions. Already have a description from Tom. Scooter: for the cytoscape one, are we targeting newbies or people who already use cytoscape? Darrell: probably the intro for new users. If you have known users can invite them individually for more intensive help in the Bioviz lab.  Scooter: yes, similar to what we plan for the ChimeraX presentations. Short discussion of RINalyzer plugin to Cytoscape, Darrell suggests including that in the workshop. Scooter: there are modules that allow interacting with Cytoscape via Python.

Meghan: besides the 2-3 sentence description, we can put more detailed descriptions on the bioviz lab website.  Meghan: will also include headshots and bios of instructors if that would be OK with you.  Can advertise that this is an opportunity to interact with the ChimeraX dev team.

Scooter: pulling details together for SOW budget to give to Nada soon, will make sure to check it carefully.

Scooter: you're inviting specific labs? Darrell, Meghan: yes inviting them for Thursday slots (or in some cases Wed) but then they will be able to arrange Friday times if needed.  Wed workshops, Thurs lab visits, Fri mostly our time together in Bioviz Lab.  Thursday we can have at least one setup for medical imaging and one for the other ChimeraX stuff in the other side of the room.

TomG: the laptop we're bringing isn't that great/new, although it will work for VR. Meghan: we'll figure out what hardware to bring and adjust as needed.  TomG: don't want too many headsets at once anyway since the limiting factor is frequently the number of people to run the demos and help the users.  Meghan: when should we start on Wed?  Darrell: up to you.  We'll send invites to radiologists on Monday, not sure whether they will prefer early or late in the day.  TomG: I saw an 11:30-1:30 slot which may be awkward wrt lunch. TomG: we would have a break in the middle but still the lunchtime thing may be suboptimal. Elaine: some people (not me) need to each lunch promptly on schedule.  Darrell: let's use more classrooms so that we have more flexibility timewise and schedule the slots to avoid lunchtime as well as going beyond 5pm. Scooter: maybe have Cytoscape overlap with the medical imaging.

Meghan: classrooms 1,2 accommodate 44, classrooms 3,4 accommodate 56, all of these available 1-5pm.  Scooter: is that 1+2 or each of 1,2?  Meghan: not sure. Scooter: we should probably cap at something like 30 per session.  TomG: yes, so each person has table space for their laptop etc.

Meghan: by the way, ChimeraX is now in the NIAID software center. Currently available just from Bioviz Lab but will soon be for everybody with an NIAID computer.  Darrell: for download tracking, what level of detail do you want?  Scooter: mainly just the raw number.  By platform is useful but not necessary. Elaine: # downloads and when they occurred?  Darrell: by quarter? or by month?  Scooter: by month would be great.

Darrell: we'll also take a look at Pymol usage. Scooter: also we welcome any feedback of what's in Pymol that's not in ChimeraX. Elaine: usually it's whichever program you learned first.  Darrell: with Chimera vs. Pymol, in several ways Pymol is more intuitive.  Also people like how its molecular surfaces look.  [more discussion of whether we need to have comparisons with other programs or specifically try to convert people, and the balance of showing the most unique features vs. commonly used features that everybody wants]

Meghan: re the information that you're sending me about the workshops, the more the better. Brief announcement would have brief summary but website etc. could have as much detail as you're willing to give.
