Discussion of NIAID Bioviz lab hardware setup. Meeting with Cisco tomorrow. TomG: what do you think about SteamLink? Phil: we've used it a lot.  There is an occasional lag. Andi: frame rates 35-40, which disappointed me. You install an app on the Quest, then use wireless.  Cannot use it here at university.  Phil: easier to set up than Quest link. It was more of a stutter (occasional pause) than a continuous framerate issue.

Phil: let's talk more about your visit.  Meghan: we could only get the FAES terrace (the large area in the clinical center) on Wed 2/21 for walk-in demos and instruction, throughout the whole day (NIAID people can man the terrace if UCSF people are busy in the classrooms).  Am working on reserving classroom (smaller area). Thursday-Friday our own bioviz lab, Thursday would be different groups coming by invitation for more specific consultations; Darrell is coming up with names.  Friday: total debrief amongst ourselves. For Wednesday, we will have 3 VR laptops, should be plenty.

Darrell via chat: Might be nice to meet with Dr. Summers (radiologist) on Wednesday when we are already in Building 10.

Phil: we will need titles and lengths of time for the workshops on Wednesday in the classroom. Meghan: still haven't nailed down when the classroom is available.  Phil: maybe 3 workshops, TomG general/cryoEM, Zach  medical imaging, Scooter (Cytoscape?).  TomG: how big are the FAES classrooms?  Darrell: room has 3 segments with partitions between, so the full room is quite large and could seat 60. Tables, electric outlets, dual projectors.  Phil: can have 2 workshops running at the same time.

Elaine: topics mentioned last week: ChimeraX in general, AlphaFold, cryoEM applications, medical imaging, VR.  Lower priority, if time/interest permits, Cytoscape.

Meghan: I forgot to ask Nada about possibility of direct reimbursement for trip expenses from Guidehouse earlier, will do that soon.

Darrell: where is the SOW now? Time is getting short. Others: we think it's in Scooter's hands still.  He will be back next week.

Phil: another thing we would like is alphafold fetch for NIH3D scripts. Same outputs as for PDB fetch.  TomG: you may want the additional coloring by alphafold confidence (pLDDT). Phil: yes.  Darrell: we are also very interested in "worms."  Is that in the SOW? Others: hmm, maybe it's in the R01. Let's check on that.

Darrell: let's have a written document with agenda for Wednesday.  Meghan: yes, will get that together.

Meghan and Andi discuss the SOW (in progress) for their VR user study. Andi: I'd like to present this at one of the meetings, would take 15 minutes. Others: sounds good.

TomG: we got a 4070 graphics card, not a 4070 TI.  Is that what we were going to try, or is that the wrong one?  Phil: laptops (?) have the 4070, PC has 4070 TI. We temporarily thought we fixed it by turning off mirroring, but we still have the problem after that.  Flickering (or almost a peripheral vision effect) of a green outline of a city skyline across the bottom of the headset when using ChimeraX VR tethered.  Andi: particular headset?  Phil: all of our headsets, 3 different kinds.
