Release of NIH3D is imminent.

Phil and Meghan: One of Darrell's main goals is to get software (including ChimeraX installers) on their internal "app store" portal of whitelisted software.  Windows and Mac.  Will be very useful for researchers, not having to get IT help (admin privileges at least for Windows) for installation.  Darrell: and theoretically people are not supposed to have their own Applications directory, and putting it in the system one may require

Meghan: we had a long telephone meeting with Tom Goddard after the last meeting, on VR.  Last week was the retreat. Phil: Philip came all the way from Ireland.

Phil: Before that I went to a Gordon conference on nitrogen oxide signaling, and gave many VR demos.  Had worked out with Tom a way to advance through scenes using a "next" command, could also assign to controller button click. Mostly worked: sometimes got out of sync between multiple users, so Phil would be viewing the new scene whereas the other participant(s) were still see the previous one.  We were using a direct connection (ethernet cable) between two laptops.  Meghan: there are a lot of things to deal with: steam, oculus, ... we'd like to work on better documenting the issues we've had, mostly with the headsets, and how to resolve them.  Somebody asked about whether VR could be used in the conference center, which we are looking into.  It may be complicated.  We will share these issues with you, maybe useful, even if not directly relating to ChimeraX itself.

Darrell: when does the new contract start?  Elaine: March 1? Not sure.  Darrell: there was some issue with the wrong name on the contract paperwork, getting fixed now, and if there is a gap it should be a short one.

Zach mentioned the new Download DICOM tool and that he is working on NRRD, Nifti formats.  Darrell: [https://www.nitrc.org/ir/ NITRC-IR] is a good source for NRRD/Nifti data, second largest after TCIA. The NITRC website has three main sections: resources registry (software), data repository, cloud computing environment. Actually TCIA is somewhat deprecated, there is a new push toward [https://datacommons.cancer.gov/repository/imaging-data-commons Imaging Data Commons]
