Discussion

• Qt 6.9.2 bugs
  • We have 3 Qt 6.9.2 Mac crashes and non-crashing bugs repeatedly reported in daily build.
  • If we release ChimeraX 1.11 with this Qt version we may have a large number of Mac crashes and bug reports.
  • Qt 6.9.2 is the latest available for PyQt although Qt 6.9.3 came out 3 weeks ago and Qt 6.10 is also out.
  • Not clear what we should do if we plan to start release candidates in mid-November.

• Filtering bug reports
  • Eric points out that current logic to allow anonymous bug reports from previous version for 1 month after new release would make a 1.10.2 release allow 1.9 bug reports when we only want 1.10.1 reports to be allowed. Greg will fix it.
  • Discussed if dropping anonymous old ChimeraX bug reports should request the user update in the bug reporter panel.
  • Eric and Greg were ok with saying the bug may be fixed in new ChimeraX and only offering the close button on the bug report.
  • Eric does not want them told to supply an email address to submit a bug on old ChimeraX.
  • Tom does not want any extra response when an anonymous old bug report is submitted. The bug report panel already tells them those reports will not be evaluated and they are already reminded weekly to update ChimeraX.

• Chimera Mac Tahoe
  • Eric finds that hovering over resize title bar green button fixes Chimera graphics pane positioning.
  • But if he has Tk not forward system events to macOS NSApplication, then the resize pane appears but it does not fix the graphics position.
  • Eric will attempt to find which event must be forwarded to fix the graphics position.

• Backup of Chimera Windows build machine
  • Tom cloned the Windows Chimera build machine james hdd onto a solid state drive today.
  • Unfortunately it did not boot, "partition not found".
  • Using grub boot loader. May need a small 40 MB FAT16 partition copied that the clone did not duplicate.
