December 9, 2024
Agenda
- 1.9 release planned for December 9, 2024
- Should developer tutorial section on commands talk more about keywords
- GitHub Actions builds
- Clean-up ChimeraX 1.9 roadmap wiki page
- Work in progress reports
- Make Chimera end-of-life bug report and registration changes.
- Back up the Chimera build machine to a solid state drive, Windows 7.
Discussion
- N453 keypad door lock
- The code to leave the N453 door unlocked during the day does not work since maintenance replaced the battery.
- Greg will submit a request to fix it.
- Scooter leave
- Maybe we can talk to some of the Wynton advisory board to bring more transparency to Scooter's case so the lab has a better idea of how long he will be out.
- Qt 6.8.1 wheels on PyPi
- PySide6
- Should we try switching from PyQt to PySide6 which is LGPL licensed and official supported by the Qt project for a few years now?
- If we want to try for ChimeraX 1.10 we should do so early in the release cycle, e.g. January.
- BlueSky
- Zach is getting our UCSFChimeraX BlueSky account verified using a file placed on our web site to show we control it.
- RAM disk for AlphaFold
- Greg has setup /tmp/goddard as a RAM disk on wilkins with 500 GB for Tom to test AlphaFold 3 sequence search speed.
- ChimeraX 1.9 release
- We will release Thursday Dec 12 if nothing new stops us.
- Zach just added a DICOM TCIA downloader fix.
- Tom recently (1 week ago) added a crash reporter fix to give users info about specific often encountered crashes that we cannot fix (graphics driver, Mac display config, ...).
