     5The ChimeraX 1.8 release branch was made May 8, 2024.  The code that allowed the QOpenGLContext screen attribute to be set to None was added in May 2021 and apparently did not lead to problems until Qt 6.6.  I think it is quite plausible that the fix to the ChimeraX code on May 21, 2024 to make sure the screen is not None was what fixed the crashes, not the newer Qt.  But since I cannot reproduce the crash on ARM Mac despite the 48 crash reports I don't have a way to test that theory.
