Thanks a lot for the suggestion. It is indeed GPU related. The problem turns out that is not from the GPU driver from Nvidia, but the GPU TWEAK III utility software from ASUS that causing trouble. Removed the ASUS software, now no problems. Best, Chunxiang

Thanks for the explanation of how you fixed the graphics problem. It seemed strange to me that a production Nvidia graphics driver could have such a basic problem. This will help me advise others who run into the problem.

Looks like ChimeraX fails to start because your graphics driver is broken. I see you have an Nvidia driver from last month. Not sure how it can be broken is such a basic way. But I think the only fix is to update or reinstall it. I see there is an August 6, 2024 driver now available for your 4070 Ti.
